Dee began her business career right out of college and after spending 28 years climbing the corporate ladder as a “Career Girl” in Insurance Consulting, she woke up in her early 40’s to discover she was having a “Mid-Life” crisis! She said to herself, “Oops, I missed something in life and I don’t want to answer emails for the rest of my days!” That something was a child. So she took a leap of faith and had a son, Marshall.
Shortly after that, perhaps she could blame it on “baby brain” that tugging in her heart had not disappeared. This set in motion her second mid-life crisis. She realized that corporate life was no longer her desire and decided to take her second leap of faith and follow her “hearts desire” of mentoring & coaching women. While working 60+ hours a week in her corporate job, a 1 ½ yr old son, a husband and 2 dogs, she launched her true passion to help women “Bee the Best” through the vehicle of Mary Kay Cosmetics as a Leadership Coach.
Dee dedicated 10-15 hours a week to her business while still working full time and in only three short months she was promoted to the Leadership position, representing the Top 2% of Mary Kay Independent business owners. Dee has been awarded two .75 carat Diamond Bumble Bees for sharing the Mary Kay opportunity with over 48 women and a 2 carat Bachendorf Wrist Watch. In addition, she has earned three company cars in six years.
Her Mary Kay journey actually began when she was just 6 years old when her mom brought home the “Pink Jars” of Mary Kay Cosmetics. After playing with mom’s skin care for years, she began using the product herself at the age of 17 to combat terrible acne and it worked!
She had the privilege of meeting the founder, Mary Kay Ash, at a conference. The room was filled with people and yet Mary Kay held Dee’s hand, looked straight into her eyes and gently spoke to her as if no one else was in the room. Mary Kay always said, “Imagine everyone with a sign around their neck that says ‘Make Me Feel Important’”. She’ll never forget that is exactly what happened at that moment!
Her Leadership position within Mary Kay has proven to be just one of the many things she desired: to be her own boss and own her own company. Now, six years later, Dee’s passion to mentor women has grown stronger and deeper through her “B10” initiative that helps women gain confidence and belief in themselves to BEE a Perfect 10 woman that God created them to be.
Dee did not always see herself as a B10 woman because as a child she grew up in the chaos and destruction of alcoholism and domestic violence. While many would have shut down and quit life as a result of this devastation, Dee went in another direction. She embarked on a search to go after everything she desired.
Anyone who meets Dee agrees that her passion is to mentor and coach women to BEE the BEST! Her Mary Kay business is the vehicle and her goal for every person she meets is to share the opportunity to “Bee the Best and Shine God’s Light! “
Dee is a wife to Greg Hayden, a mother to Marshall and a dog mommy to Dixie, their pet Yorkie. Their favorite things to do as a family include fly fishing, snow skiing, camping, watching movies, going on adventures and just hanging out! The one thing she wants to share is that…
Our hearts desires do come true; take God as your partner, never lose your faith, and never quit. Always remember, “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light!” 1 Peter 2:9
